Myriad Genetics
Getting Ahead of Breast Cancer
Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2024
During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Myriad Genetics wanted OB/GYNs to start screening their patients for hereditary cancer risk with the MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test with RiskScore®. The campaign framed testing as a conversation between doctor and patient, with materials to educate both.

Challenge
Genetic screening was still gaining traction. Most women with a family history of breast or ovarian cancer had never been tested. Many didn’t think they qualified, didn’t know how to ask, or worried they wouldn’t know what to do with the results.
Solution
The campaign spoke to both sides of the exam room. It used clear, encouraging messaging to correct common myths about risk and testing, across paid social, digital ads and in-office materials that gave patients a reason to ask.
My Role
I helped develop the campaign concept, then designed and animated the case study video for the Communicator Awards submission. The video tells the campaign’s story, from insight to results, in a short, engaging format.
Results
Winner, 2024 Communicator Award
Highest month of provider orders of the year
Record rep engagement
Local news coverage that led patients to call asking about MyRisk®
The Family Thread
BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH 2025
Every family has a thread that ties it together: the stories we retell, the traditions we pass down, the lessons we learn from the people before us. Our genetics are part of that thread too. For Cancer Action Month, I created four social animations for Myriad’s MyRisk® Hereditary Cancer Test, each built around a single continuous line that draws itself into a DNA helix, handwritten family stories and the women the campaign speaks to. The series turns genetic risk into something families can see themselves in, and it won Gold at the 2025 Cancer Awareness Advertising Awards.
